A couple months ago while I was on a location scouting trip, I came upon a feeding frenzy of pelicans in Gulf Shores. Never one to pass up a photo op I brought out my wildlife lens and enjoyed the show. I couldn't tell what kind of fish they were after, but the feeding action was for miles in both directions. Even a pod of dolphins came through during the feeding frenzy. What was interesting is the pelicans fed in groups so it looked like they were putting on a synchronized diving performance.
One thing I notice when looking at the photos is pelicans almost always roll over on their left side. I don't think I have ever seen them start their dive by leaning on their right side. One of the great things about living on the Gulf Coast is seeing nature up close like this.
