Lauren and I discussed doing a night portrait session in Pensacola and we both wanted something elegant. I also wanted to shoot downtown while the holiday lights were still up. I arrived early and scouted Palafox Street and thought the corner of Main and Palafox would be a good place to shoot. When Lauren arrived, I immediately saw she nailed the styling. She put much thought and effort into her look so I didn't want to disappoint with a mediocre photo shoot.
For this shoot I used three lights for most of the shoot, with a warming gel applied to two of the lights. For those that are curious, a gel in photography terms is something that changes the color tint of lights used during a session. When I color corrected for the warming gel, this made the green LED lights in the background look warmer. The ungelled light became slightly bluer after the color correction. I wanted the background lights for portraits to be light blobs, or bokeh balls, so this required setting my 56 mm lens to 1.2.
The actual shoot time was short, around 30 minutes. Lauren arrived prepared to shoot and I spent time before hand getting my lights and camera settings ready. After the shoot it was burger time at the Tin Cow, and I highly recommend their truffle fries.
