This family portrait session took place in Perdido Key, Florida. We had a mixture of posed group shots as well as candids. I just find for family sessions with young children that it is best to spend about 10-15 minutes maximum for the posed shots. After that I focus on the candid shots and try to get into position for the other type of group shots. By that I mean watch for family interaction moments and then try to get group shots based on those interactions. The facial expressions are more natural, and yes more real. Sometimes I capture the meltdowns but that is part of who the children are at this stage in their lives.
