This was a multiple family group consisting of two families and grandparents. The family was staying at the Gulf Shores Plantation and they decided to have the session take place there. It was little bright when we started so I decided to concentrate on getting portraits done of the twins. They were already performing so it was just a matter of getting them focused. I placed my small Adirondack chair in the shadow of a dune to make it easy for the glare and got some great portraits of them. Then it was just a matter of adding their parents into the shot.
It was still a bit bright so we stayed behind the dunes. I then photographed the second family in the group. After that I wanted to get the grandparents involved in the shoot. By that time the light on the beach was just about perfect and I could tell the twins were ready to play on the beach. I think the posed shots are great, but sometimes the candid moments have more emotion. They are spontaneous. It is more about experiencing a trip to the beach.
