I am a portrait photographer living in Baldwin County and serving Gulf Shores and other coastal communities along the Gulf Coast including Orange Beach, Perdido Key, Pensacola Beach, and Dauphin Island. Destination beach weddings in Orange Beach and family vacation beach portraits are services I provide. I love natural light photography and if it looks great at the time of the shoot we roll with it. However, nature doesn't always cooperate as much as we would like it to. I also use portable studio lights to add a little pop or really go for a dramatic flare. Thunderstorms during the summer are always a possibility. As long as it isn't raining or lightning those clouds in the background can make for dramatic looking backdrops. If you are having a beach wedding, being prepared for just about any kind of weather will help insure you preserve the memories of your day.
Because I do not do summer mini-sessions your family has my full attention that afternoon. My outdoor sessions typically start an hour before sunset. We can watch the hourly forecasts and move the time up or down depending on how the radar looks. If for some reason we do have to cancel because of weather we can try a makeup day or shoot in the studio at Foley, Alabama.
My family beach sessions start at $350.
Family Beach Portraits
Weddings
Your vacation at the beach or wedding day is a fleeting moment. It seems the day will never come. Once it arrives, time moves quickly and is gone in an instant. My job is to freeze that moment in time and capture your history. This moment will never happen again. This is your story as a family as it is right now. These memories will be shared for generations and will be your legacy. It is enjoying the first time your child jumps into the water at the beach or celebrating the life of a grandmother that has been the solid rock for your family. It isn't about capturing perfection, it's about capturing the perfect moment. Long after the wedding reception, or after family members once again go their separate ways after the family reunion, the photographs will remain.
Gulf Shores Family Beach PortraitI try to make family beach sessions fun for the kids. I see so many times parents trying to force smiles that they get fake smiles that do not represent the personalty of their children. When I tell the children to do whatever they want their personalties come through.

Dramatic Twilight beach Portrait in Perdido KeyA twilight portrait of cousins during a family session in Perdido Key, Florida. This was taken a few minutes after sunset using studio lights on the beach. Sometimes the most dramatic looking time to shoot on the beach is after sunset when the skies look more dramatic. Just using natural light would not retain the colors and pop of the evening. Shooting later in the day is also more comfortable during the the hot humid days of summer.
Family Photographer in Gulf Shores AlabamaLook at this cutie pie! This little girls portrait was taken during a family beach session in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The sun was just about to set and behind her which gave her a nice highlight of her hair. I used to a portable studio light to balance out the sunset and give her a nice catchlight in her eyes. While not in focus, the shoreline created a nice airy and surreal background.

Goofing off with the GrandchildrenA posed portrait of grandparents wit grandchildren turned into a goofing off shot that got photobombed by a flock of pelicans in Gulf Shores, Alabama
Family Photography in Perdido Key FloridaA portrait of big brother with his little sister taken in Perdido Key, Florida. This was taken after sunset when the natural light is easy on the eyes and the skies are there most colorful. If it is a bright day the sun can be very harsh, especially with younger children. During the hot summer months having portrait sessions after sunset can produce dramatic looking portraits and children are much more comfortable because it isn't as hot and humid.
