I am a wedding and family portrait photographer living in Baldwin County and serving Fort Morgan and other coastal communities along the Gulf Coast including Orange Beach, Perdido Key, Pensacola Beach, and Gulf Shores. I love natural light photography and if it looks great at the time of the shoot we roll with it. However, nature doesn't always cooperate as much as we would like it to. I also use portable studio lights to add a little pop or really go for a dramatic flare. Thunderstorms during the summer are always a possibility. As long as it isn't raining or lightning those clouds in the background can make for dramatic looking backdrops. If you are having a beach wedding, being prepared for just about any kind of weather will help insure you preserve the memories of your day.
My outdoor sessions typically start an hour before sunset. We can watch the hourly forecasts and move the time up or down depending on how the radar looks. Family and wedding sessions in Fort Morgan are usually great because there are less tall condos in the background and fewer people on the beach.

Gulf Shores Family Beach PortraitI try to make family beach sessions fun for the kids. I see so many times parents trying to force smiles that they get fake smiles that do not represent the personalty of their children. When I tell the children to do whatever they want their personalties come through. Gulf Shores Multi-Family Beach PortraitThis family beach portrait was for a family reunion at a beach house in Gulf Shores Alabama near Fort Morgan. For large groups like this, especially with children involved I will take multiple pictures so I will have something to work with for the final image. For this portrait I needed three pictures to get this image that had everyone looking. Orange Beach Photographer | Perdido Key Family PortraitThe remnents of Tropical Storm Gordon provided a dramatic and beautiful backdrop for this sibling family beach portrait in Perdido Key, Florida. Gulf Shores Family PortraitA portrait taken on the West end of Gulf Shores Beach during Thanksgiving week. This time of year the sun sets over the water so we get a little different look during family beach portraits in the Fall and Winter. Family Beach Portraits Orange Beach | Perdido KeyThis was taken during a family portrait session in Perdido Key, Florida. Hurricane Michael created tidal pools on the beach and this creates some wonderful opportunities for some abstract portrait work. Dusk Family Beach Portrait in Perdido Key FloridaA family beach portrait taken in Perdido Key, Florida after sunset. This little girl just woke up when we started the session and so was a little tired and not feeling great at the start of the session. At the end of the hour session, we had a great sky after sunset and she got her second wind!
