This gallery features an October family beach portrait session in Perdido Key, Florida. I used a mixture of studio lighting and natural light for this session to take advantage of the beautiful sunset conditions.
Perdido Key is almost a hidden gem for a vacation destination because it is in between Orange Beach and Pensacola Beach, Florida. For this session the conditions were really bright to start off with so I used my lights and found shaded areas behind sand dunes and kept their backs to the sun. Otherwise they would have squinty faces and that isn't flattering for beach portraits.
With no clouds in the sky, natural light started to get really good just before sunset. This was the perfect opportunity for candid portraits and use the beautiful diffused light for more portraits in different conditions. There was one important member of this family missing. The father is active duty military so couldn't be part of the family beach vacation. Thank you members of the military for your service.
