This was a challenging shoot. It wasn't because of the family who were awesome during the shoot nor was it the lighting which was just about perfect. The challenge was how windy the evening was. I arrived at their rental beach house in Fort Morgan about 30 minutes early to scout the area out for any place that was protected from the wind. The only place I could find was on the West end of the beach house on the balcony. Normally I wouldn't do a portrait session from a beach house balcony, but I wanted to get the safe shots before venturing onto the beach. Beach hair is a normal part of beach photography, but the wind was making it more difficult. 

After getting the safe shots, we moved to the beach. By then the wind had also died down a bit so it was more manageable. The girls liked being on the beach better too and I was able to get a few shots of them playing on the beach and in the surf. Another thing I wanted to do was feature the beach house in the background of the portraits. Normally I  try to minimize any buildings in the background but this house has a character about it that I thought would ad to the portraits. I feel it gives it a more coastal living lifestyle feel.
