This client wanted some headshot and portraits for her social media website. During the initial consultation we agreed on shooting against a white background. This is a standard background for business and professional portraits as it gives a clean look and is easy to substitute backgrounds in post processing. We started off with the white background, and during the shoot she explained more about what she is doing. She is a life coach and said there are times she has to have serious talks with clients and also write about tough situations. Learning that I suggested we try some dramatic looks that would be appropriate for any kind of outreach that would be about a serious topic. I changed the background to black and used more shadows and contrast for lighting which makes for a more serious look for her portraits.
