This family wanted more dramatic looking beach vacation portraits over natural light so I used my portable studio lights for most of this session. It was a good thing they wanted dramatic portraits as the beach conditions were a dull gray because of the overcast skies and lingering storms in the area. These conditions are the best for dramatic lighting on the beach. What looks dull and gray with natural light looks vibrant and brilliant when lights are used. For a brief moment the sun did peak under the clouds and this caused a fiery look in the sky which added a punch of orange in the background.
