This portrait was taken at the end of a family session at Dauphin Island. After all the safe shots are finished I like to end the session with something for the kids. After a session of smiles, kids sometimes like not having to smile. I setup my lights to make a dramatic look on the beach and I tell the kids to just look serious. What sometimes happens is they try so hard to look serious they can't help but crack a smile.
