This blog features wildlife photography on a recent kayak trip at Fly Creek in Fairhope, Alabama. I was hoping to get a shot of an osprey diving for fish as the creek is full of mullet right now. At the entrance of the creek I was greeted with an adult brown pelican.

There was some commotion in the sky and I looked up to see a huge bird circling over head. Closer inspection revealed it was an immature bald eagle. It got the attention of two osprey that were in the area. Juvenile bald eagles will steal the fish catch of osprey so I imagine the osprey were not happy having a bald eagle in their territory. This scene got my hopes up that there would be feeding osprey in the creek but unfortunately that didn't happen.

Leaving the creek, this great blue heron was looking for fish bait on the jetty. It hardly paid me any attention and I was able to get some great shots of the bird at sunset.
