If you are staying in the Gulf Shores area for your Christmas vacation, December is a great time to get your portraits done on the beach. The sun is a little lower on the horizon which means we can shoot earlier in the day because the light isn't bounced back into your eyes. There's less humidity so it is much more comfortable on the beach. Long after the presents are opened and the family dinner is finished, the pictures will last for generations. Even if the beach conditions are not great and this is the only time the family will be together, I have enough experience to make the shoot happen even if we have to shoot inside the condo and make it a studio.

During the hot summer months sometimes it is best to shoot after sunset when the beach is a little cooler and the children start to wind down. The photographed was lit by my portable studio light and made a simple candid portrait look dramatic.

For large groups like this, especially with children involved I will take multiple pictures so I will have something to work with for the final image.
