While traveling the backroads of Baldwin County I spotted a pair of eagles in Elberta, Alabama. Fortunately, I had my wildlife camera/lens combo in the front seat and they were in an open field. I did have a longer telephoto lens in the truck but didn't want to risk them flying off while changing lenses. I snapped a few photographs from my truck and then decided to risk getting closer. Raptors like hawks typically fly off once I get out of the truck but these stayed. They tolerated me getting closer but eventually they flew off.
I can only speculate as to why they were in the field. I'm assuming they were hunting for small mammals and reptiles, or they were scavenging for dead animals.
