Family Beach Portrait Inquiries
Perdido Key is a great place for family beach sessions. It isn't as busy as Gulf Shores or Orange Beach. I typically start my beach sessions about an hour before sunset. Anytime before that and it is too hot or bright on the beach. People tend to not like squinty eyes for their portraits! I love natural light photography and will use that when it looks great. However, you cannot always depend on mother nature so I bring portable studio lights on the beach. This can make a so-so evening into something dramatic, especially if the sunset is spectacular.
Because I am not dependent on natural light, we can take advantage of just about every condition from perfect cloudless day to a rainy evening provided it isn't lightening. Sometimes you may have only one day where everybody is together so it helps to be prepared for just about anything. The good thing about Perdido Key is there are public beaches that are close to pavilions so we can get to cover for an unexpected rain.
Your vacation at the beach or wedding day is a fleeting moment. It seems the day will never come. Once it arrives, time moves quickly and is gone in an instant. My job is to freeze that moment in time and capture your history. This moment will never happen again. This is your story as a family as it is right now. These memories will be shared for generations and will be your legacy. It is enjoying the first time your child jumps into the water at the beach or celebrating the life of a grandmother that has been the solid rock for your family. It isn't about capturing perfection, it's about capturing the perfect moment. Long after the wedding reception, or after family members once again go their separate ways after the family reunion, the photographs will remain.
My family beach plans start at $350 with no session fee. Typically sunset sessions are scheduled an hour before sunset but sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate. We can move the time up or down during the day depending on the weather. If natural light is great I will shoot with available light. However, I am not relying on just natural light and can shoot in just about any weather condition except for rain and extreme wind. Sometimes surrounding storm clouds can even give us spectacular backgrounds and dramatic portraits!
