The Alabama Gulf Coast is a great place to watch birds as there are hundreds of species that make the area home or visit on their annual migrations. http://www.alabamacoastalbirdingtrail.com/trails/

There are many large birds that nest in Alabama, including bald eagles, brown pelicans osprey, owls and herons. At the Gulf Coast beaches, shore birds nest among the sand dunes in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Eagles and owls nest in the Winter, and birds such as osprey and herons nest in the Spring.
