Wedding on Okaloosa Island

The wedding ceremony of Aaryn and Jessie was a small affair on Okaloosa Island near Destin, Florida. It was just them and four family members. The wedding took place during Memorial Day Weekend. Jessie is an active duty Marine and it was an honor they chose me to photograph their wedding.

The wedding was performed by Marie Di Giovine of Wedding Ceremony by Marie. Everyone arrived early so we were tempted to start the ceremony early since it was overcast. However, the overcast skies cleared and we had a bright evening. Wedding pictures on the beach typically don't look good when it is bright because people's eyes are squinting from the sun's reflection off of the beach. We decided to keep things on schedule and wait until the sun was lower in the sky so the reflection on the beach wasn't as strong.

Another concern of mine was how crowded the beach would be on Memorial Day Weekend. Fortunately the beaches started to clear out by an hour before sunset so it was much easier to get shots that didn't have too many beach goers in the backgrounds.
