This family session took place at the West end of Dauphin Island. We started out among the dunes since it was a bright and windy day. The dunes gave us some protection from the wind and also gave us a nice background. I had to use my portable lights on some of the photos to balance out the bright light. I don't like having my clients looking into the sun when it's bright because this tends to make for some unflattering facial expressions and it is just plain uncomfortable. Another benefit is the sun acts as a second light giving nice backlit highlights. 

Once the sun started I was able to use more of the natural light for the portraits. We also moved to the bay side which gave us a different look to the portraits.
