This was from a late October trip to Fish River at Weeks Bay. I launched from the Hwy 98 bridge and made my way North. My goal was catch redfish and a few speckled trout. I fished the grass banks and didn't get a bite so I started to troll a grub. I got a few nibbles but not bites.

I pulled up to one of the creeks that feed into Fish River and started to chunk the grub. On one cast I thought I snagged the bottom but to my surprise I felt a shake on the end of the line so I knew it was fish on. At first I thought I had a bull red since it started to pull the kayak and would make a deeper dive when it got close to the boat. To my surprise, it was a doormat flounder and probably the biggest one I have caught. This wasn't a meat run so I let the flounder go. A few casts later I caught a nice speckled trout so I just knew the bite was going to be on. 

However, that was it for the trip. I cast the area and trolled but no more bites. It was getting dark so I trolled back to the bridge. I got some taps but no bites. I finished up around the grass banks again using topwater hoping to get the grand slam with a redfish. I got some blow ups but no bites. All in all though it was a fun trip as it has been a long time since I had landed a flounder.
