On my way home from a recent real estate job in Mobile, I decided to stop by Langan Municipal Park to see if we had any migrating white pelicans in the area. I pulled up to the Mobile Museum of Art and saw a few feeding in the lake. Unlike our year around resident brown pelicans that plunge dive bait fish, white pelicans troll through an area in groups and force schooling fish to shallower water which makes it easier for the pelicans to feed. Occasionally they will feed on crayfish and small reptiles if the opportunity presents itself.
