Senior Portrait Session in Dauphin Island

This session on Dauphin Island lasted about two hours. The conditions were really bright at the start of the session and ended with a beautiful sunset. We started around the old fishing pier which gave us some cover from the bright sun. Bella was very adventurous during the shoot and wanted a combination of the standard senior portrait look mixed with a more magazine cover look as well.

For this session I used a combination of natural light and portable studio lighting. Natural light is wonderful when it looks good. Adding studio lighting gives an extra pop and gives me more control of how backgrounds look. People like having portraits taken at the beach because of the beautiful backgrounds. If I used just natural light sometimes the backgrounds and skies would just be bland or blown out. Off camera flash helps me preserve the backgrounds and retain vibrant colors.
