I wasn't expecting much from this noontime trip in Daphne, Alabama but I just wanted to be on the water for a couple hours. After an hour I was ready to load the kayak back on the truck but then I started to get bites. All together I caught 7 specks and landed 5 in the kayak. The water was a little murky so I was using a purple and chartreuse paddle tail. The wind was blowing out of the north. I had my best bites on the south side of the pilings and structure. To my surprise I caught the speckled trout on the shallower end of the pilings. My guess is maybe the water was a little warmer and I did see most boats were fishing the deeper ends of the structure. It's possible the fish were spooked to shallow ends as well.
