I made another trip to Dauphin Island, and this time I wanted to feature moments leading up to the sunset. I arrived about two hours before sunset hoping to get some wildlife pictures and scenes around the island.

Driving on the Dauphin Island Parkway I noticed this snowy egret fishing along a rock jetty.

It was still a bit too early for classic sunset photography so I headed to the East end and saw this scene of the Gulf Victory in the ship channel while someone was fishing the pier.

By now the sunset was looking really good. I stopped by JT's Sunset Grill and took some pictures from the upper deck. In the distance I noticed a V-22 Osprey performing manuevers at the airport. I grabbed a few shots and decide to head to the airport for a closer look. By the time I got there the Osprey flew away but I managed to get some good sunset pictures at the airport and saw a juvenile yellow-crowned night heron as well.
